In some cases it’s very useful to bookmark a topic for future reference. I know it’s possible to enable “notify me when people respond to this topic” but this is only useful for new responses.
It would be nice if there is a “bookmark topic” link at the bottom of a topic similar to phpbb that stores the topic in the User Control Panel for future reference.
Possible use cases: – return to a topic later to respond to it – follow the steps posted in the topic on a more appropriate time – perform other actions like update a KB topic based on the results of another topic.
In the User Control Panel i see a new tab next to topics, responses, reputation, settings called “bookmarks”. This is not a public tab and will simple store a list of topic titles similar to the other tabs.
In there you can also mark topics to remove them from the bookmarks. Either individually or by using checkmarks and a “remove selected bookmarks” button.
Yup, I'd like this feature too. Sometimes you want to keep an eye on a topic, perhaps to vote for it once you free up a wish, but unless you've replied to it or ticked the notify box, it can be tricky to locate an old topic again.
If not bookmarks, you could call it something simple like Watched Topics. It would probably make sense to have any topics you ticked to be notified about appearing in the list automatically.
I agree this would be useful, I'm use bookmarking often in forums.
OK, approved, but I need a UI mockup.
