Could we get some links place at the bottom of every page? One to jump back the top of page and one to return to the Topics list?

I find it a little frustrating having to hit back to get back into the topics list. Because when you do that it does not refresh the page. So if someone else has posted something you don’t see it unless you manually refresh or you press the Topics button after backing out of a page.

It would also be very nice if it would remember your position in the topics list, when the crumb link is used, and return you to that spot in the list. Instead of doing what the forum does, and dumping you back at the top of page 1, regardless of what page you where in, in the Topics list.

  • That could be useful. I always open each topic in a seperate tab so I can easily switch back to the main topics page and refresh it. – birkoff about 2 years ago

Interesting, but with the back-to-topic-list why not just click the backspace button?

With the link back to top, I can see how on a selected few topics it is useful

Pressing the backspace button (Clicking back) has two disadvantages over a link to return to topics list.

  1. Clicking back does not refresh the topics list. So if you spent any real time reading something and then backed out and someone else has posted something new, you wont see it unless the page is manually refreshed.
  2. If you just submitted a post in the Discussion… clicking back is going to return you to the edit window for the post you just made. Forcing you to back out twice.

The forum has them at the bottom of the pages, and I have really come accustom to using them. It just makes going from page to page so much easier IMOP.
But like I was saying… the down side to the links on the forum is they return you to the top of page1 when the link is used. Regardless of how deep you where in that forum.

Would be a lot nicer if it would link you back into the topics list in the same location as you where when you pressed the link.
Basically doing the exact same thing that hitting back + refresh would yield.

Also if you had started out by pressing lets say Topics > Bugs > Page 3 > Thread
And then we say..68 topics down in the list.
Made a post in a thread.
Then press the link to Return to List*
Its going to return you to the new topic in the list, that just replaced the one you just posted in (the new 68). (Still in Bugs Only)

If not, then you just have to scroll down through all the posts you have ether already read or skimmed past. It’s very easy to forget exactly were in the list you where before getting snapped back to the top.
