I think this is the right place to ask this. Was thinking it might be useful to some tracker users to have the option to receive a daily or perhaps weekly digest of topic updates rather than continuous emails from every topic they've added them self to. Perhaps at midnight an automatically triggered mail containing links to all of the topics with new updates that they are watching.

What do you think?

I sort of think that would defeat the hole purpose of the notifications.

The way I see it is the faster you receive the new notifications the faster you can respond to the new comments.

That may be true, but I'm think of people buying the CT system from Sam. If I'm a heavy user with 20 topics I'm following and have been at work all day I'd much rather sit down in the evening to a single mail with multiple links than find my mailbox “spammed” by 20 mails from the different topics. Also, I'd note that this suggestion would only be added (if it were added) as an option on notifications, not replacing the existing method.

Personally my use at the moment on the CT for MB wouldn’t reqiure this, I'm just trying to think outside my own personal use. Perhaps you are right though and it is overkill. What do others think?

  • Well in that case it really is already set up to do exactly what your speaking of, but without the email. All a user would need to do is not use the email notifications, and instead just visit the site once a day and check their inbox. The inbox is going to accumulate those 20 new comments and have them ready in one place without the “Spamming”. – DemonSeed about 2 years ago

I like an aspect of this suggestion, I would like to remind people that posted on the site there is new information they should check out, if they post and forget about it.
