Some threads already do have this built in. For instance a secondary comment will auto resize any size image to stay inside the page boundary.
What I would like to see is ALL threads have this behavior. As is, on a lot of primary threads (meaning the First Post) if you have a over sized image, it will post WAY out of bounds. So as a workaround users have to manually resize everything to under 600pix in width, and for LOTS of new users they don’t know of this limitation, so it becomes a problem that is very ugly.
The threads I know of for sure that DON’T respect the boundary’s are Fanart and KB Topics. Both of those will get a mess if the author is not careful with how large their images are. But in the case of any of them a secondary comment will respect the boundary and resize the image.
To demonstrate, I'm going to post a large image in this upper spot and then re-post it below to see it auto-resized.
