Branding
Make sure you have some proper branding. The header image and footer text is customizable. The settings are available in under Admin –> Global Settings
Additionally you can set up a custom css theme in the Admin –> Theme section. All the CSS on the site can be controlled by you.
Tracking
You can set up a google analytics code so you can track site usage. You will have to have a google account for this to work.
Seeding your community
It is very important to seed your community with some questions/bugs/feature requests and kb articles. Without you there will be no community, building a community takes time, visit the site daily and show your customers you are out there listening to them.
The knowledge base
Many startups have very few customers initially, start by beefing up the knowledge base area. You can do this by yourself. If you need to define new sections, use admin –> Manage sections.
Voting
Vote it take quite a while for people to get a hang of voting, if you notice anything interesting or worthy, vote it up! This will help encourage voting.
Improvements
Improve as opposed to edit. As an admin you can either edit anyones posts or go through the normal improvement channel. Improving will both increase your reputation and alert the content owner about the reason the change was made.
